John P. Sullivan is a Certified Public Accountant and credentialed business valuation professional with nearly 30 years of experience in public accounting, private industry and financial leadership. He advises closely held businesses, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals on strategic tax planning, tax compliance, financial reporting and major business decisions.

 John founded Sullivan Strategic in 2008 to provide business owners with the sophisticated tax and financial expertise of a larger accounting firm combined with the accessibility, responsiveness and personal attention of a boutique practice. Today, he leads an experienced team that includes three Certified Public Accountants serving clients throughout the Greater Philadelphia region and beyond.

 In addition to tax planning and compliance, John provides fractional-CFO, financial modeling, transaction advisory and financial due-diligence services. He works closely with business owners and their legal, financial and other professional advisors on acquisitions, business sales, succession planning, ownership transitions and other significant financial matters. This broader experience enables him to evaluate tax decisions in the context of a client’s operations, cash flow, business value and long-term objectives.

 John began his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young, one of the world’s largest accounting firms. He later served as a senior financial analyst with Campbell Soup Company and as Chief Financial Officer of a privately held company. His experience working inside businesses—as well as advising them from the outside—gives him a practical understanding of the financial and operational challenges faced by business owners.

 John holds the Accredited in Business Valuation credential from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Certified Valuation Analyst credential from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. He has completed more than 500 business valuations across a wide range of industries for acquisitions and sales, SBA lending, estate and gift-tax reporting, succession planning, ownership transitions, shareholder and matrimonial disputes and other strategic purposes. John also serves as Director of Business Valuation Services at Everingham & Kerr, Inc., where he performs business valuations and advises entrepreneurs and business owners in connection with mergers, acquisitions and business sales.

 John is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He graduated magna cum laude from Villanova University, finishing in the top six percent of his class, and has spoken and written on tax, business valuation and advisory topics. In 2015, John received the SmartCEO Philadelphia CPA & ESQ Award for CPA Industry Practice in Business Valuation.
